THE MUSIC, MADE VISIBLE
THE INSTRUMENT
Per Sonum: The Sound Unbound is a music-reactive visual instrument that turns sound into evolving fractal imagery in real time. Load a track, listen to live audio, shape the visuals with your own images and controls, then perform, experiment and record the results directly on your device.
A Single Self Contained File Usable Offline
TAKE IT WITH YOU
THE FULL VERSION 2.8 MB
Complete and self-contained: the instrument with a Per Sonum recording and its artwork inside. Download it once, open it in your browser, press play — it would work on a desert island.
THE COMPACT VERSION 0.4 MB
The same instrument stripped for travel — no recording, no artwork, a fraction of the weight. It opens on the eye and waits for the music you bring it.
THE POLYGLOT VERSION (BETA) 5.5 MB
This download is provided as an .mp3
file, but it contains more than just the music.
Open it normally in a music player and it plays as an MP3.
If you want to run Per Sonum: The Sound Unbound, simply change the file extension from:
filename.mp3
to:
filename.html
Then open that same file in your web browser.
Nothing is converted and nothing extra is downloaded. The very same file works as both an MP3 and the application.
This is called a polyglot file: one file designed to be understood correctly in two different formats.
In short:
.mp3 → play the music
.html → run the instrument
If your computer hides file extensions, you may need to enable “show file extensions” before renaming it.
THE PROMISE
This file is the instrument. Once it is open, it runs on your machine and does not call out.
That is how the file is built, not a policy we could change inside a copy you already have.
If you open it from a website, the site must send you the file first. That request can appear in ordinary server logs. That is the host delivering the page, not the instrument reporting on you. A copy saved to your own machine does not need the network again.
DOCUMENTATION
THE MANUAL
How to do everything in the instrument — from first open to recording, every control explained, with recipes and remedies.
THE TERMS
The agreement shown inside the instrument, set out to read before you download — with the plain-text copy linked at its foot, for keeping.
More will sit here as it is written.
